This article provides an account of the nitty-gritty of messiness and its consequences during the process of mixed methods research. By applying the ‘craft attitude’ and a socio-ecological framework for mixed methods research to a mixed methods case study, I demonstrate how my embracing of research messiness through the craft attitude exemplifies the interconnectedness of the personal, interpersonal and social contexts. This article contributes to knowledge by proposing a new way to conceptualize mess in mixed methods research through the integration of the craft attitude within the socio-ecological framework for mixed methods research.},

of the persistent failure to incorporate children's voices. The
findings revealed various obstacles to including children: on
the one hand, these impediments consisted of broad macro-level
barriers derived from the cultural context; on the other,
obstacles included micro-level barriers associated with planning

abstract = {
Microorganisms in our living environment may affect human health. Microbial suppression by air cleaners and disinfecting agents may provide protection from pathogenic materials. However, excessive microbial suppression can negatively affect human health; thus, an appropriate level of microbiome control is beneficial. It is not well understood how physical environmental conditions, such as temperature and relative humidity, and human lifestyles and behaviors affect indoor microorganisms. To understand the relationship between physical environmental conditions and microbial communities in the human living environment, we measured temperature and relative humidity and collected microbial samples in modern and traditional Japanese houses. In this study, bacteria and fungi were the target microorganisms. In both houses, the DNA concentration of microorganisms on floor surfaces was high when the average relative humidity of the room was high. The same tendency was observed for the beam and pillar surfaces in the traditional house. Although more careful consideration is needed for some indoor surfaces, such as storage ceilings and air conditioner outlets, seasonal changes in relative humidity and DNA concentrations of microorganisms on indoor surfaces exhibit some correlation.
},

abstract = {This study is presenting a multidisciplinary approach for mitigations of water resources in the irrigation, water supply, energy, and flood protection using hydrological model coupled with multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). The study area is originated in the northern Afghanistan with serious water issues. Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was adopted for the hydrological modelling. The model was calibrated and validated using monthly streamflow from 2010 to 2018. The current irrigation state of the watershed was revised based on the crop water requirements and land area to address water shortages. The investigations lead to an engineering-based solution (dam construction) to regulate and control the streamflow, especially during winter and flood season. Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) based on expert’s opinions were used to determine suitable dam site locations. Then, the dam was added to the SWAT model for dam’s impact assessment. The dam reservoir capacity (197,900,938 m3), dam storage area (748 ha), dam height (69 m), electricity generation (Ave = 25.4 MW},

abstract = {The classification of climate zones is required for developing appropriate predesign strategies for energy-efficient buildings. Standardized hourly climatic data from 2014 to 2020, including global horizontal irradiance, air temperature, wind speed, relative humidity, precipitation, atmospheric pressure, total cloud cover, and mixing ratio, collected from 106 sites were used for climate zoning in Indonesia. First, the temperature zones containing four area divisions were determined to obtain statistical patterns of diurnal and seasonal air temperature. The comfort ventilation potential was assessed based on a zoning using a combination of air temperature and wind speed characteristics, while the evaporative cooling potential was assessed based on the combination of relative humidity and wind speed characteristics. Total hours for comfort ventilation and evaporative cooling showed diurnal (daytime and nighttime) and seasonal changes. Second, eight integrated climate zones namely, equatorial, sub-equatorial, highland tropical, very highland tropical, monsoonal, sub-monsoonal, savanna, and sub-savanna, were determined based on principal component analysis, cluster analysis, and spatial interpolation methods. Third, the calculation of cooling degree days and cooling loads followed by the calculation of the potentials for night ventilation, comfort ventilation, and evaporative cooling were carried out in each integrated climate zone. For example, by taking the lower probability limit of 50%, the monsoonal, savanna, and sub-savanna climate zones were found to be suitable for comfort ventilation methods. Meanwhile, the sub-equatorial climate zone was suitable for applying passive methods by combining night ventilation and comfort ventilation.},

abstract = {<p>By conserving natural resources and reducing the consumption of fossil fuels, sustainable energy development plays a crucial role in energy planning. Specifically, demand-side planning must be researched and anticipated based on electricity consumption at the grounded level. Due to the global warming crisis, atmospheric conditions are among the most influential components that have altered electricity consumption patterns. In this study, 66 climate variables from the ERA5 reanalysis and the observed power demand at four grid substations (GSs) in Cambodia were examined using recurrent neural networks (RNNs). Using the cross-correlation function between power demand and each climate variable, statistically significant climate variables were sorted out. In addition, a wide range of feedback delays (FDs) was generated from the data on power demand and defined using 95% confidence intervals. The combination of the improved complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (ICEEMDAN) technique with a nonlinear autoregressive neural network with exogenous inputs (NARX) and a nonlinear autoregressive neural network (NAR) produced a hybrid electricity forecasting model. The data were decomposed into the intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) and were then used as inputs in optimized NARX and NAR models. The performance of the various benchmarked models was analyzed and compared using mainly statistical indicators such as the normalized root mean square error (NMSE) and the coefficient of determination (R2). The hybrid models perform exceptionally well in predicting electricity demand, and the ICEEMDAN-NARX hybrid model with correlated climate variables performs the best among the tested experiments as a useful prediction tool.</p>},
